About Schlesinger Communications, Inc.
Schlesinger Communications, Inc. is an independent, family-owned and operated radio broadcasting company founded in July 2010 in Pennsylvania. The company is led by brothers Jeffry O. Schlesinger, President and CEO, and Mark W. Schlesinger, Vice President and Program Director. With deep roots in the broadcasting industry and a commitment to serving the community, Schlesinger Communications has become a prominent presence in Central Pennsylvania's radio landscape.
In October 2010, Schlesinger Communications acquired two radio stations, 92.1 WSNU and AM 1230 WBPZ, from Lipez Broadcasting Corporation. The FM station was immediately rebranded as WSQV, launching The Valley's Best Rock, a classic rock station that quickly gained a loyal following. WBPZ, founded in 1947, has long been known for its strong community ties and full-service radio programming.
In August 2019, Schlesinger Communications expanded its footprint when the FCC granted WBPZ a full-service FM translator at 96.9, now known as Classic Hits 96.9 WBPZ. This added a fresh dimension to the station's classic hits format and expanded its reach.
The company grew in August 2020, acquiring four radio stations from Magnum Broadcasting. This purchase included:
In 2023, Schlesinger Communications successfully petitioned the FCC to reclaim QWiK ROCK's original call letters, bringing the legendary WQWK brand back to life after over 50 years.
